BrightWall® Basement Wall Panels can easily transform damp, ugly basement walls into bright, beautiful walls that never need paint or other maintenance. The BrightWall® system includes semi-rigid, white plastic panels, trim strips used to join panels together and plastic fasteners that are used to attach panels to the foundation wall.
Here are some noteworthy advantages of this wall system: Quick, efficient installation, since wall panels include insulation, wallboard and finished wall surface. Battens with a matching surface finish snap in place between panels, eliminating the need for taping and finishing joints. This design also simplifies panel removal. No painting is required; walls are finished as soon as they’re installed. Electrical outlets are easy to incorporate. The vinyl surface is attractive, stain-resistant and easy to clean. Panels can’t be damaged by moisture and won’t support mold and mildew growth. Unlike fiberglass batt insulation, rigid foam insulation will not absorb moisture, settle, or compress over time. A TBF wall is much stronger than drywall construction; a single panel can support up to 300lbs. Framing is eliminated; no wood or metal studs are required. A TBF wall has an R-13 rating and is more energy efficient than a wall built with studs and insulated with fiberglass batts. TBF panels are available with finished faces on both sides, for use as partition walls. Plastic baseboard and crown molding used to trim out walls is 100% waterproof and won’t support mold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chris from Easy to Install I went with the DRIcore Smartwall to refinish my basement. It was between Smartwall and Wahoo Walls. I liked that the Wahoo Walls used MgO instead of drywall, but I went with the Smartwall for one reason – the size – 2 foot wide panels can fit down into my basement and 4 foot wide Wahoo panels would not fit without cutting. Installation was fairly easy. I installed 50 linear feet of walls in 2.5 days time! Cutting the walls was easy with a hand saw. The instructions say 2 people are required, but I did it by myself. It would have been quicker / easier with someone else to help, but is can be done by one person with moderate skill level. I gave the quality a good rating because some of the panels had some very dark black smudges from shipping. The panels come primed, but I will prime the walls because of this. The basement is a unique space, and a demanding environment to finish. Unlike the rest of your house, the basement sits below ground level and is surrounded by soil that remains cold and wet. When traditionally finishing a basement, this can pose many problems. However, by applying some basic “building science” to the design process, a basement can be safely finished. That’s why choosing the right finishing materials for your basement is a crucial step towards creating a safe and healthy living environment for years to come.
If you have a large open basement, but would like to “section off” different areas to create new spaces, like a gameroom, a playroom, and a home theatre, consider installing Armstrong Definitions® decorative hanging wall panels. With Definitions panels, you can easily create unique spaces within a larger space – without the need to build permanent walls. These wall panels attach to the ceiling with a sturdy cable system and hang freely.
Rated 3 out of 5 by NHHandyman from Dissapointed Four of the 13 panels we ordered were damaged defeating the purpose of not having to spackle. And of course it was all of the bottom of the panels that were damaged as it is only the top of the panel that can be cut. No time to return product as job needed to be completed on time. Also, the online video and directions for Dricore Smartwall does not indicate that you need to order their Dricore Smartwall screw kit. Take note of this as there is also no indication when ordering the panels through Home Depot that this screw kit is needed. The reason being is that it is impossible to find 5 inch drywall screws anywhere. I had to use an alternative 5 inch screw I purchased at another big box store because HD did not have any 5 inch screws in stock in the store. Again, no time to wait for the 5-9 day delivery estimate of the screw kit. Will now have to use molding to cover top screws as they are not flush with wall. The panels themselves are of good quality and installation is much easier than standard wall construction. If shipping was improved and information about having to order the screw kit was prominently displayed I would have given this product a much higher rating. Date published: 2016-04-21
